Historical vs Recurring Orders

Historical Orders

Use both From and To when you want a fixed historical period.

  • Good for backfills and one-off analysis windows.
  • Order ends after the requested period.

Recurring Orders

Set From and leave To empty to continue month over month.

  • Good for ongoing monitoring.
  • New imagery is produced according to image frequency and reference date.
  • Renewal can be stopped before 00:00 UTC on the first day of the next month.
Did you know?

Both historical and recurring orders are produced from available source imagery only. There is no future interpolation or forecasting in either mode, so outputs are comparable for overlapping dates.

Backfill and Continue in One Order

You can combine historical backfill and recurring updates in the same order:

  • Set From to a past date (for example, 2025-01-01).
  • Leave To empty.
  • The order includes the historical window from From up to the current cycle, then continues recurring month over month.
Billing and cancellation

Order credits are consumed when order coverage is created. Canceling recurring before the monthly UTC cutoff stops only future renewal, and does not undo coverage already created in the current/previous cycle(s). For full lifecycle rules, see Cancel or modify recurring orders.

Field Behavior

  • ImageFrequency: revisit cadence (for example, daily to weekly).
  • ReferenceDate: aligns cadence across orders.
  • StorageMonths: retention window for downloads.

For cancellation rules, see Cancel or modify recurring orders.
