Introduction to Ordering
This is a quick overview introduction to ordering cloudless data. The next page shows an example request body for API ordering but here we will focus on explaining the possibilities and the parameters that's a part of the ordering flow.
1. Overview of Ordering Options
ClearSKY offers two ordering options designed to match different needs and budgets:
-
Composite Ordering:
This method allows you to select custom areas as small as 1 km². Ideal for precise, targeted data needs. -
Tile Ordering:
A cost-effective option that provides a 90% discount compared to composite orders by requiring predefined tiles (specific number of pixels in a tile, differing between areas based on satellite coverage). Perfect for large, contiguous areas or bulk orders.
Choose the ordering method that best aligns with your data needs.
2. Order Requirements
To place an order with ClearSKY, you’ll need the following:
-
Area of Interest:
- Geometries (for Composite Order): Provide a GeometryCollection containing polygons or multipolygons that represent your specific geographic area of interest. We calculate the extent for each top-level geometry within the GeometryCollection to determine the area for billing. If the extent of a Polygon or MultiPolygon is less than 1 km², it will be billed as 1 km². For multiple small polygons in close proximity, we recommend merging them into a single MultiPolygon to avoid being billed separately for each small area.
- Tile Identifiers (for Tile Order): Specify the unique identifiers for the tiles you are interested in. Each tile represents a predefined geographic area. Ensure that the tiles you select accurately cover your AOI to avoid unnecessary costs.
-
Model Selection:
Choose one of our cloud-removal models, such as Stratus-2. -
Satellite Selection:
Select the satellite sources, keeping in mind that certain models may require specific satellite inputs.
Each order is customized based on these selections, so be sure to review the model and satellite specifications.
Each new tasking order has a minimum cost of €50 for the first month. After the first month, recurring orders are billed based on actual usage, without the €50 minimum.
3. Step-by-Step Ordering Guide
The ordering process is simple and intuitive. Follow these steps:
- Select Ordering Type:
Choose between composite ordering or tile ordering based on your needs. - Define AOI and Time Period:
Specify your area of interest and desired image frequency and duration. - Choose Model and Satellites:
Select the model and satellite data sources for processing. - Configure Additional Settings:
If required, select options for historical data (past months) and whether it should renew next month automatically. - Review and Confirm:
Check all order details, including the estimated total cost, then submit your order.
Once submitted, your order will be processed and prepared for delivery according to the selected options.
4. Processing Time and Delivery
ClearSKY provides estimated processing times to help you plan your projects:
- Composite Orders: Historical data processed within 12-24 hours.
- Tile Orders: Historical data processed within 12-48 hours, depending on volume and data size.
Delivery timelines are based on the model and order complexity, with data available promptly once processing completes.
5. Monthly Usage Discounts
ClearSKY uses a Monthly Usage Unit (UU) Discount System for discounts. Each order placed within a month, including both composite and tile orders, contributes to a single monthly usage unit total, resulting in cumulative discount eligibility across all orders:
- Stratus-2 (Composite): 1 UU per km²
- Stratus-2 (Minitile): 0.50 UU per km²
- Stratus-2 (Tile): 0.10 UU per km²
All orders within the same month contribute to this total, so even multiple smaller orders add up to maximize potential discounts.
6. Customer Support
If you need help at any stage of the ordering process, the ClearSKY team is available to assist. For questions, contact us at [email protected].
