Credits & Data Storage

ClearSKY uses two credit types. They are separate and serve different purposes:

  • Order credits (EUR): Pay to create orders.
  • Processing units: Pay when you download data from an order.

Both credit types expire 12 months after top-up.

Credits for ordering (EUR)​

What they are: Prepaid EUR balance used to create Polygon or Tile orders through the dashboard or API.

How they work:

  • Top up in the dashboard and place orders against your balance.
  • Your €/km² rate is determined by your current monthly EUR spend tier and the chosen model.
  • Approved customers can be enabled for backwards invoice payment based on monthly actual usage. Contact [email protected].

Validity: Order credits expire 12 months after the top-up date.

Processing units (for downloads)​

What they are: Units that are consumed when you download imagery produced by your orders.

Included with every order:
Each order includes enough processing units to download the entire ordered area once at one processing level per pixel.

When you need extra:

  • If you want to download the same area again, purchase additional processing units.
  • If your order supports multiple processing levels and you want both outputs (for example, Nimbus L1C and L2A), you will need additional processing units for the extra product.

Models and processing levels:

  • Nimbus: You can download L1C or L2A. Set the processingLevel parameter to l1c or l2a in the composite download endpoint.
  • Stratus-2: Provides only L2A downloads.

Validity: Processing credits expire 12 months after the top-up date.

Data Storage Duration​

When you place an order, you choose the storage duration for your images. This defines how long the data stays accessible for download.

Key point: Storage duration is independent of processing units. If storage expires, the images are no longer accessible even if you still have valid processing units. If you need longer access, select a longer storage period when ordering or place a new order later.

Credit Expiration​

All credits expire 12 months after they are added to your account:

  • Order credits (EUR): 12 months from top-up
  • Processing units: 12 months from top-up

You can continue to use remaining credits within their validity period, regardless of the storage duration that was selected for previous orders.
